It is a France group 1 flat horse race at Paris  Longchamp thoroughbreds of age 3 and older over a distance of 2400meters (11.93) furlongs and is done on the first Sunday of October 3year colt old carrying weight of 56.5kilograms and 4year old carrying 59.5kilograms and fillies having an allowance of 1.5 kilograms respectively  to their ages. Geldings are forbidden from the race and that rule remains.

It was inaugurated and first ran was in 3rd October 1920 won by a 3year colt Comrade owned by Evremond de Saint-Alary and won a purse of 150,000francs.Its present sponsor is Qatar and Equestrian Club signed in Doha in 2008.The Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe all information

It is a Europe’s most prestigious race its honor features are mainly highly acclaimed horses and its winners are often regarded as Champions. It host the French 2,000 guineas called Poule d’Essai des Poulains  1,000 guineas referred to as Poule d’Essai de Pouliches  and Grand Prix de Paris. It is called 2000 guineas because it’s a group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to 3 year old colts and fillies run at Rowley Mile at Newmarket over a distance of one mile scheduled to late April or Early May where horses were named according to their original prize funds of 2,000. It was once described as a monument not a race hence making Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe betting extremely popular. It is the second richest turf races behind the Everest having more than 200 horses compete in sixteen races worth 9.4 million Euros.

In 2020 due to Covid 19 pandemic the racing grounds was limited to 40,000 from the usual 70,000 plus spectators. It’s scheduled for Sunday October 3rd 2021 as the 100th edition and will be live on ITV at 3.05pm ET and winner’s purse is 5million Euros.

Eight Horses have won the Arc twice and they are Ksar, Motrico, Corrida, Tantieme, Ribot, Alleged, Treve and Enable. The 99th Edition held in Paris Longchamp 4th October 2020 was won by Sottsas trained in Deauville by Jean Claude Rouget and ridden by Cristian Demuru. Enable the favorite of the season struggled home only 6th outside the first three for the first time in her nineteenth race in her career. Other competitors were In Swoop, Persian King, Gold Trip, Raabihah, and Enable. Snowfall won the Oaks by sixteen lengths at Epsom back in June and now is the favorite with an odd of 5-2 for the Arc. Enable (2017, 2019 and 2020), Taghrooda (2014), Danedream (2012), Time Charter (1983), Dahlia (1973 and 1974) are the fillies that have won the Arc.

Arc weekend is no exception for the official drinks and meals. French are known for their cuisine and it ranges from sandwiches, crepes, and ice-cream, roasted sea bass. Champagne is the featured beverage for the occasion and most bars will only offer France’s signature drink. Men generally wear suits or shits and trouser with a jacket and for women hats and fancy dresses are encouraged
