The Dubai World Cup is a Thoroughbred horse race held annually since 1996 and contested at the Meydan Racecourse which in Arabic suggests a place where people congregate and compete, a sort of meeting point in the Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The race is operated through the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA) whose chairman is Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates as an expression of his lifelong passion for horses and racing. It offers nine races, consisting of eight Thoroughbred contests and one Purebred Arabian contest.

Annually held on the last Saturday in March, the Dubai World Cup is part of the Dubai World Cup Night of races. Since its 2019 running, the race has carried a purse of $12 million, regaining its place as the world’s richest horse race, a record held by the Pegasus World Cup in 2017 and 2018.

It is a Group 1 flat race on dirt for Northern Hemisphere Thoroughbred four-year-Old’s and up and for Southern Hemisphere Thoroughbred three-year-Old’s and up run over a distance of 2,000 meters (about 10 furlongs) in late March .The race’s first winner was the future United States Hall of Fame Thoroughbred Cigar, owned by Allen E. The 2021 Dubai World Cup was a horse race run at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai on 27 March. Mystic Guide won the 25th race at 2.01.61 owned by Godolphin and trained by Michael Stidham trained in the United States winning a purse of $7.2 million. Among the competitors were Mystic Guide, Chuwa Wizard, Magny Cours, Hypothetical, Salute The Soldier, Jesus’ Team, Thegreatcollection, Ajuste Fiscal, Gifts of Gold, Sleepy Eyes Todd, Title Ready and Capezzano in the order of post position. Dubai World Cup is scheduled for Sunday March 27th 2022 and racing club is organizing Middle East’s first Breeze-Up Sale for two year-old horses in 24th March.
